Australian academics’ joint statement on the coup (English and မြန်မာစာ)

A joint statement has just been released by several groups of Australian academics, including the Asian Studies Association of Australia (ASAA), Association of Mainland Southeast Asia Scholars, the Australia – Myanmar Constitutional Democracy Project, the Australia Myanmar Institute, the Griffith Asia Institute, and the ANU Myanmar Research Centre.

The statement provides an overview of the situation following the coup, condemns the military’s actions, and finally demands the release of all political prisoners (including Sean Turnell).
